E&M Current Carrying Loop in B-field.
Homework Statement Suppose that the magnetic field in some region has the form B=kz\hat{x} (k constant). Find the force on a square loop (side a) , lying in the yz plane and centered at origin if it carries current I flowing counterclockwise, when you look down the x-axis. Homework...- physman88

Graduate A Solid Calculus and beyond Text
I have checked that one out, and didnt really like it. It was an older model of the book though. I recently looked at: -Mathematical Methods for Physics and Engineering by K.F. Riley. I really like the older edition of the book from like 1974 which my library has and I am currently using... -

Graduate A Solid Calculus and beyond Text
hey all, I DO NOT KNOW THE BEST FORUM TO PUT THIS! So i chose calculus... I am a junior physics/mathematics double major. I am looking for a good math book to really get in depth on some of these topics. I have had Calc 1-3, ODE, PDE, and a special functions class (Legendre, Laguerre... -

Graduate Solving the Hermite Equation: What are the Hermite Polynomials?
wow. totally just realized that you weren't asking what the polynomials solved. As far as BC's and IC's, I am not sure.- physman88

Graduate Solving the Hermite Equation: What are the Hermite Polynomials?
The Hermite polynomials which can be given by the Rodrigues Formula : H_{n}(x)=(-1)^{n}e^{x^{2}}\frac{d^{n}}{dx^{n}}e^{-x^{2}} Which will be a solution to the Hermite Equation: y''-2xy'+2ny=0 Hope this helps. We just covered this in my math for scientists class.- physman88

Graduate References for quantum chromodynamics
Hey all, I am currently in a 300 level physics class, Concepts of Modern Physics, and as a semester project we are required to research a topic and do a presentation. I chose QCD because I have done some reading on it and it seemed the most interesting on the list. Although, i would like to...- physman88

Mixing Problem Help: Solve 1.7 kg Salt in 30 L Brine Solution
Homework Statement A brine solution of salt flows at a constant rate of 7 L/min into a tank that holds 30 L of brine solution in which was dissolved 1.7 kg. The solution inside the tank is kept well stirred and flows out of the tank at the same rate. If the concentration of salt in the brine...- physman88

Undergrad Finding Partial Derivative of an Integral
I understand that you couldn't follow it, but may I ask how to get the limits on the integral? Sorry for the mix-up. -

Undergrad Finding Partial Derivative of an Integral
Hey everyone. I am new here and i have a problem with some partials. We're studying partial derivatives in calculus III. I understand and all, but we haven't covered how to take a partial derivative of an integral. This problem showed up in my practice problems before our exam tomorrow. The...
