    Modeling eliptical motion of planets

    I am trying to write a simple java program to model the motion of planets according to kepler's second law. I have everything working...except I can't find how to find an equation relating position and time. I have x = a cos(t) y = b sin(t) where a and b are the semimajor and semiminor...

    Another le chatelier qsneed to make sure

    I guess it depends on how dilute the HCl is compared to the concentrations of the reactants and products. If the HCl did contribute significantly, the HCl would ionize to produce more H+, so the reaction would shift to the right to counteract the addition of reactants.

    Balancing a Redox Equation in Acidic Solution

    Homework Statement Balance the following redox equation (in an acidic solution): Cu + NO3- -> NO2 + Cu2 The Attempt at a Solution I got 4H+ + 2NO3- + Cu -> Cu+2+ + 2NO2 + 2H2O But my book told me the same thing, but without the H2[/sub]O: 4H+ + 2NO3- + Cu ->...

    Pendulum, electic field, equilibrium

    I understand now that I was wrong, and I know what a free body diagram looks like. But I don't understand why. With a = theta: In my diagram, vector addition of mg*cos(a) and mg*sin(a) would equal mg and mg*cos(a) would equal T. Is this diagram only for a swinging pendulum without any...

    Pendulum, electic field, equilibrium

    Homework Statement (This is from Giancoli 5th ed book, pg 500 problem 49) A point charge m=1.0g at the end of an insulating string 50cm long is in equilibrium in a uniform electrical field E=9200 N/C, when the pendulum is 1.0cm high. If the field point to the right, what is the magnitude of...

    Air pressure with Bernoulli's equation

    Nevermind, I think I figured out why I needed to set P2 = 0 in the first problem. Actually, what I needed to do was set P2 = 1 atm, and when I calculated force, I needed to use F = (P2 - P1) * A to get the right answer. So just ignore this...but here's the post anyway: For anyone who has...
