I What is the proof for 1+4+9+16+....=0?

How would be a correct way to write it? I would like to know the steps he applied to be able to assign 0 to the middle series. http://QUOTE="mfb, post: 5498284, member: 405866"]Not in the way you wrote here, no

I What is the proof for 1+4+9+16+....=0?

I wrote that I add sums, in general, mathematicians do that, but in this example you added 1 to an infinite series that's wrong, infinity + 1 = infinity. As written in that wikipedia article mathematician 'assign' the values to series, maybe equal is much said, but how to assign 0 to the...

I What is the proof for 1+4+9+16+....=0?

    I meant "adding" sums, like S= 1-2+3-4+5... And adding S+S, it'll eventually give us 2*S=1-1+1-1+... That's how we can assign values to these series => S= 1/4 (1-1+1-1+1...= 1/2 )

I What is the proof for 1+4+9+16+....=0?

Hello, I started to learn divergent series/sums, to practice I calculated some basic ones, you know: 1+2+3+4+5+6...= -1/12, but I really had problems when i tried to demonstrate that 1+4+9+16+...= 0(the sum of squares of natural numbers), I've tried to add, subtract etc, but I couldn't prove it...

Is a Masters in Nuclear Engineering Worth It for a Mechanical Engineer?

Win-Win-Lose, you'll be very busy, I would do the same, try finding a private company that doesn't require so much time to work for, so even if you're not paid as much as a full work day, you'll get experience.

Is a Masters in Nuclear Engineering Worth It for a Mechanical Engineer?

Hmm, that's a dilemma, but it depends on your opinion, remember, there are not many places where to work, but a good specialist will always find where to work, so there are 3 ideas: 1) Compare the salary/conditions, what you like more, etc, if nuclear, then continue learning, it won't affect you...

Superatom Chemistry: Where to Find Info & What's Going On?

From what I know, they didn't really publish/found something of a big importance, in the near future, I don't think there will much information about it, sadly.

How to get credit for a mathematics discovery?

I want to know more about that. too. Here is some information about what I do know: You must write a paper to a journal, you can check: ijma.info , before creating a paper, read author guidelines and some other papers/issues to understand how the journal works.

B Prove Bisecting Angle Theorem - 5 Min Exercise

Hi, guys, i made an exercise, can you prove this? m(∠EAD)=[m(∠ABC)-m(∠ACB)]/2 If you have 5 free minutes, try it, i hope you'll like it! It's my first own exercise, so I would like some feedback, too. AD= bisecting(splits angle in 2 equal sides)

Why gold rings are not made from 100% gold?

Gold actually it's soft, so an 100% gold isn't practical, as it would change it's form. There is added some zinc or copper to make it more rigid. What I tried to say earlier it's that it could also react with some other elements, depends on conditions(in normal conditions gold don't really...

Why gold rings are not made from 100% gold?

Gold is only one metal, no other components, it creates electricity when contacting with other elements.

Where I can check if my formula is new?

Hello, I found a Math formula, not long time ago, I went to a journal centre, there I was told that I need to check if my formula is new, or was already discovered, they said that it's not their job to check that. So, what I'm supposes to do? Also, is there a website/map that can show all my...
