What makes them disjoint? Is that because each A sub i set is mapped to a different i?- Ronnin

Graduate Existence of the Square Root Proof
I know this is binomial trickery but I just don't see it. Any ideas? -

Graduate Existence of the Square Root Proof
Now I'm lost again. We are trying to prove that the LUB^2 (LUB=b) cannot be any other value but a. From this point on I don't follow the proof at all. For instance to test if LUB^2>a he sets a number c=b-(b^2-a)/(2b). Where did that come from? -

This book never ceases to make me feel stupid. Thanks Micro for making that clearer. -

Graduate Existence of the Square Root Proof
I was playing trying to work through a proof in Apostol's Calculus and can't quite understand a step noted. This is from chapter 3, theorem 1.35. Every nonnegative real number has a unique nonnegative square root. The part where you are establishing the set S as nonempty so you can use LUB it... -

Failed to graduate but landed a full time job
Let me give you a word of advice. I just went through a long vetting process for a new job I am taking. Once I signed a disclosure they, ran my credit, verified my degree, checked references and confirmed dates of employment not only with them but with social security records, and drug tested...- Ronnin

Should I Ask for Paid Vacation When Starting a New Job?
I have been working at my current employer for about a year. About 9 months into the job things had changed and I decided that this was not the right place for me long term. So for I've been on and off looking around for other employment and finally something broke for me. I was given a job...- Ronnin

Can someone say me what is the advantage of
What exactly is the application? The main reason you would choose to go with an angular contact is if significant thrust loads are involved. The back to back <> would accomidate thrust loads moving in both directions where the >> is normal for just one. Double row bearings do have similar...- Ronnin

Undergrad So, the statement is still true.
I've been playing around with some proofs and find myself relearning how I do my mathmatical thinking. Just a general question regarding how to handle something like this. 0<a<b So a and b must be positive a/2 <b I just divided one side by two instead of "dividing through" like you...- Ronnin

News Government Bureaucracy and its Effects
This all sounds like a really good case for zero based budgeting. There is no reason why a department (at least every few years) must rejustify every dollar being allocated to it. With regards to entitlements, I believe the very same concept could be applied there as well.- Ronnin

Breaking the Catch-22 Loop: Gaining Experience Without Experience
I would say this is absolutely the biggest plus to any job search. Get out there and don't be affraid to meet people. You would be supprised how many opportunities come through networking. Even if you meet someone who can't help you that very moment, the world is very small. This is also why...- Ronnin
