Help on inclined plane and air resistance.

How would I find the drag coefficient?

Help on inclined plane and air resistance.

Thanks a lot Robertm. My teacher also suggested using the drag equation F=-bv. How does that relate? I do have the velocity at a certain point but I do not know how to calculate the force at this time. I suppose I could use "ma" but I do not have the mass of my cart.

Help on inclined plane and air resistance.

Well it's due tomorrow and I don't have the program on my computer. So as of right now I've got to do with the graphs of velocity and acceleration, and the area of the sail...any ideas?

Help on inclined plane and air resistance.

The cart stopped at a pillow type barrier. The motion sensor provided me with position and velocity graphs with and sans-sail.

Help on inclined plane and air resistance.

The data analysis itself does not have to be very indepth at all, I just have to maybe verify some sort of constant and/or equation? I'm a senior in AP Physics by the way. http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/7817/img019sg9.jpg In the picture, the motion sensor is at the top of the ramp and...

Help on inclined plane and air resistance.

Homework Statement Hey, As an end of the year easy grade, our physics teacher assigned us a 20 point project in where we design a lab and analyze the data in a power point. I chose to use an inclined plane and a roller cart. My idea was to analyze the effect of a sail (thus creating air...

Angle between a force and radius?

I think I just confused myself. You said W=F.D, or F multiplied by D. Then, you say that the angle is F.D/FD. If F.D is F multiplied by D, then wouldn't F.D/FD be 1? Since top and bottom would be the same? Or is the top the dot product and and bottom FxD? Also, the dot product is...

Angle between a force and radius?

Oh I think I see what you're saying. So the scalar, or dot product divided by FD is equal to the angle?

Angle between a force and radius?

I'm kind of confused. Did you foil those out? I was taught to use pythag. theorum for component vectors. I'm also kind of confused on F.D/FD. What does this mean?

Angle between a force and radius?

Homework Statement A force, F=(6i-2j)[N], moves a particle through a distance deltaR=(3i+1j)[m] A. Find the work done on the particle B. Find the angle between F and deltaR Homework Equations W=F*D The Attempt at a Solution A. F=Root(6^2+2^2)=6.32N R=Root(3^2+1^2)=3.16m...

Solving Two-Block Friction Problem - Force Calculation

Thanks! Quick question though. Since the masses are different and thus having different friciton forces, wouldn't the forces exerted by one block on the other be different?

Solving Two-Block Friction Problem - Force Calculation

Homework Statement http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/4953/physicsyo5.png That's the best that I can do. As you can see, the two blocks are touching and both share the same coefficient of friction. There's an applied force on the first, lighter block. I've done all of my homework but just...

Finding average acceleration from data points of a velocity time graph?

Wow, I just realized. I feel so dumb! Thanks a bunch.

Finding average acceleration from data points of a velocity time graph?

Well I posted this in the calculus section but think it would be answered easier here since it's mild calculus if any. 1. Homework Statement I'm studying for a Calculus test and I am having trouble on a problem. And who better to ask than the members of physicsforums!? Basically, we are...

Very simple calculus problem graphs and velocity/time graphs to acceleration.

Homework Statement I'm studying for a Calculus test and I am having trouble on a problem. And who better to ask than the members of physicsforums!? Basically, we are studying average acceleration, velocity, secant and tangent lines. We are given the graph of a function, and its...
