Why do we lose balance in a bike when at a standstill?
ive been wondering... why is it so much easier to maintain our balance when the bike is moving? is it something of centripital (sp?) force, just like when you sit on a spinable chair and spin a bike wheel and it turns you in circles. (does the force of the spinning force you downward?)- rody084

Lamb Balance: Proving the Value of Recoil-Lamb Corrections to Energy Levels
I am calling "lamb balance" to the conjecture of recoil-lamb corrections to the energy levels between two particles of different mass M, m, when the small particle m has an additional coupling to a boson field of mass M' near to M. The link between M and m can be any coulombian or Yukawian...- arivero

The Physics of Sliding Doors: Forces in Balance
when you close those sliding doors really hard the door will eventually bounce back out about half way where you have pushed the door. is it because every force has an opposite side of force ? for example when we put the book on the table, the gravity force is pulling the book down but the... -

Can Any Integral Weight Up to 121 Ounces Be Measured with Five Specific Weights?
This is a problem from my abstract algebra book written by Ted Shifrin: A druggist has the five weights of 1, 3, 9, 27, and 81 ounces, and a two-pan balance. Show that he can weigh any integral amount up to and including 121 ounces. How can you generalize this result? While I see how it's...- nocheesie

Angle of Balance with Unequal Weights: Equation?
Does anyone know what the equation would be for the angle (from horizontal) of a simple two pan balance with unequal weights? This would be the simplest type of balance - no damping mechanism, etc. I have looked in many places, but I can't seem to find a specific equation for this angle for...- lanzara

Troubleshooting Chemical Equations: Tips for Balancing and Correcting Formulas"
I'm having trouble balancing this equation. I'm positive I've written the forumla out correctly. Maybe there is a typo somewhere... The question is: magnesium hydroxide(aq) + ammonium phosphate(aq) --> magnesium phosphate(c) + ammonia(g) + water(l) This is the forumla I wrote out as... -

What is the mass of the meter stick?
Here's the situation proposed in a problem. I have a balance bar that is a meter stick. It has a fulcrum at 50cms. Mass A(100gms[.98nt]) is at 12.3cms and mass B(1.02nt) is located at 86.1cms. Mass B has been removed and the fulcrum C shifts fo the left by 14cms. I need to determine the mass...- izmeh

How Can You Identify the Counterfeit Coin Using a Three Pan Balance?
Hello, I have encountered a question in my discrete mathematics class and I was wondering if I have solved it correctly. I can't remember the question to the word but I will try my best to state it correctly You have 15 coins. One is counterfeit. You also have a three pan balance (like a...- wubie

Optimum balance between inbreeding and outbreeding
Is there a statistically identifiable "happy medium" between inbreeding (incestuous mating, say) and outbreeding (interspecies mating, say)? Nazis seemed to promote inbreeding, whereas sodomists might seek outbreeding. The happy medium, for instance, might be mating one's third cousin twice...- Loren Booda
