Need help with FEA of a viscoelastic damper
I am trying to do a FEA of a viscoelastic damper. Should I use Ansys11 to do the analysis or Ansys Workbench 11. If I should use Workbench, can anybody give a good link where I can find tutorials on performing FEA on viscoelastic dampers.- waqaskhan200

Need Help with Yield Strength for FEA
Hi, folks, I'm an aspiring Mechanical Engineer, & as such am very new to the subject of stress, strain, etc. I'm designing an assembly using a hi-performance polymer that has the following characteristics: Tensile Strength, 73°F 10.1 kpsi (10,100 psi) Tensile Modulus (E) 340 kpsi...- Bumbleflea

Validation of Ansys FEA solution
For the tension test specimen (shown below in the link) I am using Ansys Workbench to calculate the stress in the parallel portion. How could I go about checking this through manual calculations? I have been told to use beam theories for this, however I can't see how this applies as the force...- cabellos2

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Products and Developers
These are the one with which I am most familiar. There are others, but these are the biggies. We use ABAQUS as well as our own proprietary methods, particularly for dynamic, large strain and nonlinear FEA. ABAQUS (HKS) - for nonlinear Finite Element Analysis (FEA) www.hks.com...- Astronuc

Which Solid Modeling and FEA Software is Most Preferred by Engineers?
Dear fellow engineers, I resently posted my resume and got several reactions good for me bla bla... Question. Which modeling sofware (Pro-E, Catia, Solidworks) and which stress analysis (FEA) program is best and most used. I like pro_E. It seems that everybody is using something else and...- jaap de vries

Fea on single plate element-image attached
I just modeled a single square plate of size 50x50 and thick 1 and applied a force on two nodes(total force is hence 100). The software i used is nastran. The force vector is shown as arrow in the image. My doubt is all the points in the plate should have the stress=100/area=100/(50*1)=2...- chandran

Dynamic FEA of a brass sheet buckling
Hi all, I am a student of Music technology and for a project that I am working on I need to do an unusual FEA. I want to create a simulated model of the sound phenomenon that occurs when a sheet of material is deformed. As part of this I am required to a dynamic finite element analysis for...- ping166

What are shape functions and how are they used in FEA?
I know that shape function is a function that will give the displacements inside an element if its displacement at all the node locations of the element are known. What is linear ,polynomial in shape functions. If i say as linear somebody else may say polynomial etc. I am not able to...- chandran

How Does Non-Linear FEA Work After Applying a Force?
How non linear fea works. I am studying that and i can't find any material in the web which has some basics. How the Newton raphson method is used in non linear fea suppose i apply a force f on a structure after that how non linear fea works?- chandran

Stiffness Influence Coefficient Fea For Plate
i have put this question in other forum also. I have understood the stiffness matrix generation for a single rectangular element as below. I consider each node having 2 translational dofs each in x and y coord system. There are 4 nodes in this rectangular plate element and hence 8 dofs...- chandran
