SUMMARY

The discussion centers on defining an Americium-Beryllium (Am-Be) source in MCNPX 2.6, specifically seeking gamma spectra for simulating (Alpha, Gamma) reactions. Participants reference the gamma to neutron ratio of 4.438 MeV for the Am-Be neutron source and suggest relevant literature, including a paper from ScienceDirect and a report from Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The need for accessible gamma spectra data is emphasized, as it is crucial for accurate simulation in MCNPX.

PREREQUISITES
  • Familiarity with MCNPX 2.6 simulation software
  • Understanding of (Alpha, Gamma) reactions in nuclear physics
  • Knowledge of Americium-241 properties and applications
  • Ability to interpret gamma spectra data
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the gamma to neutron ratio for Am-Be sources
  • Explore MCNPX 2.6 documentation for defining sources
  • Study the properties and uses of Americium-241
  • Learn how to analyze gamma spectra from nuclear sources
USEFUL FOR

Nuclear physicists, radiation safety professionals, and researchers involved in neutron source simulations will benefit from this discussion.

Hi
I want to define an Am-Be source in MCNPX 2.6
But I don't have Gamma spectra of this source.
Is there any computer code that can simulate (Alpha,Gamma) reaction?
Please Help!
