The discussion revolves around strategies to prevent thread hijacking in online forums. Participants express concern over how off-topic posts can derail meaningful conversations, often attributing this behavior to a deliberate effort by some members to suppress dissenting views. Suggested solutions include ignoring irrelevant posts, alerting others to hijacking attempts, and allowing thread starters to moderate discussions. The need for references in claims is emphasized to enhance discussion quality, with some arguing that requiring references could deter participation. The conversation acknowledges that discussions naturally evolve, but stresses the importance of maintaining focus on the original topic to foster genuine debate. Overall, the participants advocate for a balance between allowing organic discussion flow and keeping conversations relevant.

Rev Prez?

I'm (skirting a knucklerapping here and) wondering what thread I should look through to see just how naughty the smoking man was. Curious minds want to know.

Page 9 or 10 of the thread "Does the U.S. owe the French an apology." TSM called a person *ick *ead. The adversarial person in this thread (and most likely the complainer) had previously sent me a vulgar PM. Then he started sending me e-mails even though I had not checked the box that allows e-mails to be sent.

Obviously he must have had some help from the management to do that. I didn't complain, I can handle that kind of childish bullcrap.
But TSM is gone and the real villian is still here.

If you have "no-emails" selected, no one here can send you e-mails, not even a mentor. You curently have e-mail ok'd. If someone has harrassed you, they will be permanently banned.

Pm me with specifics. Harrassment of members is not allowed.

As I said, I can handle it. AS far as I know I have checked only the e-mail from management box. Then again I only have one eye. The person would only need my ISP number and not my e-mail address.
