I am attempting to determine the allowable uniform load on a 8ft long C3x5 steel channel A36 steel.

i got an answer of about 2,455lbs but idk if that's right.

if there is an easy equation to follow or if you know of a table online somewhere that can help that would be awesome! thanks in advance!

Does the channel run horizontally?
Is it oriented on edge, i.e. open on one side?
How is the channel supported?
 
its horizontal so if you were looking at the end it would make [ that shape. The beam is also fixed at both ends.
