Homework Statement

Of the following objects, the one with the most mass is:

a. Goodyear blimp
b. A piece of notebook paper
c. A physics textbook
d. A silver dollar

Homework Equations

The Attempt at a Solution

We believe the answer is (a) Blimp. The mass is a measure of the amount of matter in an object. Just because the blimp floats doesn't mean that it doesn't consist of a lot of matter. Similar can be said of an aircraft carrier in water versus a marble that sinks.

You are correct.

According to www.goodyearblimp.com, an empty blimp (at least one model) weighs in at 12,840 pounds. Which means its mass when empty is over 5,800 kg. (And if you add the mass of the helium, its mass is even greater.)
