I read that the only 2 neurotrasmitters in the PNS are acetylcholine and norepinephrine. Acetylcholine being the main one. That can't be right can it? What about epinephrine?
The primary neurotransmitters in the peripheral nervous system (PNS) are acetylcholine and norepinephrine. Acetylcholine serves as the main neurotransmitter, while norepinephrine plays a significant role as well. Epinephrine, although often mentioned, is not classified as a neurotransmitter in the PNS; its primary function is as a hormone synthesized in the adrenal gland, with only minor activity in the central nervous system (CNS).
PREREQUISITESNeuroscientists, medical students, and anyone interested in understanding the functions of neurotransmitters and hormones in the nervous system.
