You also need an old bamboo and ivory slide rule in a heavy leather belt holster (voice of experience, here!).

my answer to the last question "Why did you take this quiz?" was:
Had to prove that I am not as nerdy as someone else, and here’s what I get,

37% scored higher (more nerdy),
1% scored the same, and
62% scored lower (less nerdy).
What does this mean? Your nerdiness is:

Low Ranking Nerd. Definitely a nerd but low on the totem pole of nerds.

Just as I guessed

Interesting... a 64 apparently I am a low ranking nerd. I don't know whether I am relieved or upset because I made a D...

Interesting:

41% scored in the top 10%
67% scored in the top 25%
82% scored significantly above average (60% or higher)

PF is almost as good as Lake Woebegone when it comes to nerds.

Of those scoring in the top 25%, 46% figured out how to put their score in a quote box. 70% of people scoring between 75 and 90 figured out how to put their score in a quote box and only 31% of those scoring 90 or above figured out how to put their score in a quote box, so I theorize that too much nerdiness tends towards non-functionality disorders.

Of those scoring in the bottom 75%, only 31% figured out how to put their score in a quote box and 15% either posted no numeric score or botched their attempt at posting their score (based on the assumption that those posting no numeric score became frustrated when they botched their attempt and just deleted their score).

Evidently, a rating between 75 and 90 provides the optimal level of nerdiness, since performance declines both above 90 and below 75. Of course, the only two able to get the cool picture of a finger to show up in their post scored 97 and 98, so at some point nerdiness seems to break through to sheer genius.

I think that the test is a bit out dated. Most people on the internet probably own laptops now and if you still own any computers with less than a gig of memory you are probably more likely a nerd than not.

That's probably the reason for the necropost.

Yikes! I'm getting nerdier with age! (Or, others are correct that the quiz is outdated with more advanced techology becoming more commonly used.)
Today's score:

11% scored higher (more nerdy),
1% scored the same, and
88% scored lower (less nerdy).

I think my computer activities and friday night homework gave me away... What the test didn't understand was if I didn't complete those physics lectures, the world (my world) would have come to an end!

Some of the questions were pretty funny. It's fairly easy to distinguish which answers will score the most "nerd points", though. Cute test.

  • #75
I have to agree about it being dated. No questions about cell phone usage, apps, etc. My score would definitely have been lower in that case since I don't even have one. Pretty unusual for someone who works as a programmer. :-p

surprising. I didn't know anything about the computer questions.

Those are such big lies. :| I'm apart of the group of people in the back row of a classroom being called the "cheap seats" cause we're so obviously distracting everyone else. But then again, we would be playing a deviated version of double D, but that's only slightly nerdy. And what makes you think knowing all the elements on the periodic table make you MIT material?

A new question for the quiz:

"How often do you necropost in 4-year-dead threads and not realize it?"
--Just this once
--Once per week

I am too nerdy to take that test, it is not nerdy enough and I will if asked break down how nerdy I am into distinct categories that defy testing by such a blunt tool.

To put it bluntly I am more nerdy than Wierd Al:

It ranked me in the 91st percentile, but I really doubt that's accurate.
I spend many hours at the gym every week and have never read comic books, sci fi, etc., and it seems the crowd self-identifying as nerd is doing little but perpetuate the highly inaccurate stereotype that intelligence is linked with social ineptitude and unhealthy obsessions.

In popular culture, it is. But I question if it's real. I've known plenty of socially inept, unhealthy people who are...um, for lack of a more graceful term...dumb as tree stumps.

Overall, you scored as follows:

30% scored higher (more nerdy),
1% scored the same, and
69% scored lower (less nerdy).

^^^I found the above statistics pretty unsurprising.

Now can somebody please give me examples of how to make the results of this survey more accurate? The reason I ask for this is because I personally think it is way too easy to manipulate the results of this survey since (at least for me) I figured out how to manipulate the results in a desired fashion (I make the results nerdier or less nerdier) by answering certain opinionated questions in a certain manner (for example, I can pick a larger or smaller Interval for the question on "Average Internet Usage Per Day" to make myself respectively seem nerdier or less nerdy.).

Maybe putting a strict time constraint on the quiz might make it easier to make the testee answer the questions more honestly? Does anybody have any suggestions on how to make the results of the quiz more reflective of what it is designed to measure?

Here is what I scored.

High Level Nerd.
