SUMMARY

The average transfer GPA for physics majors from junior colleges (JCs) to universities, particularly University of California (UC) schools, is often reset upon transfer, with many institutions disregarding previous GPAs. Students transferring from reputable junior colleges, such as the top 5 transfer JCs in California, report GPAs around 3.8. It is crucial for prospective transfer students to understand that while some courses may transfer, the GPA may not carry over, necessitating a strong performance at the university level.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of GPA calculation and transfer policies
  • Familiarity with the California community college system
  • Knowledge of University of California admission requirements
  • Awareness of academic reputation and course transferability
NEXT STEPS
  • Research University of California transfer GPA requirements for physics majors
  • Explore the impact of course transferability on GPA at CSULB
  • Investigate the academic reputation of junior colleges in California
  • Learn about strategies for maintaining a high GPA during university studies
USEFUL FOR

Prospective transfer students, academic advisors, and anyone interested in understanding the GPA implications of transferring from junior colleges to universities, specifically in the field of physics.

What is the average transfer gpa for physics major? I don't even know since hardly anyone even goes into physics for CC transfer. Example for UCs and other state universities.

I transferred to a university from a junior college. Is that what you're asking?

if you transfer from junior colleges, most universities will wipe your gpa clean or even make you retake many classes.

junior colleges are notorious for watering down of material and easy grades.

That's why you attend a reputable one. All of my courses transferred, but of course my GPA started over at the university.

Wasnt getting the answer I expected but oh well. I am in a reputable JC, one of the top 5 transfer JC in fact in CA so I am fine. Yea, transfer gpa from a JC to a UC. But then what is the average gpa for physics in the UC anyways.

Well, mine was like 3.8.

I am transferring to CSULB with a 3.8 (for physics, but am considering switching to EE)

EDIT: Also, I am transferring from OCC
