Calculate Current in 5-Resistor Wye-Delta Circuit

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around calculating the current in a circuit containing five resistors, three of which are arranged in a Y (wye) configuration, while the other two are in parallel with them. The resistors have specified values, and a voltage source of 10V is applied to the circuit. The scope includes homework-related problem-solving and circuit analysis techniques.

Discussion Character

  • Homework-related, Technical explanation

Main Points Raised

  • One participant presents a circuit problem involving a combination of Y and parallel resistor configurations, specifying resistor values and the applied voltage.
  • Another participant emphasizes the importance of showing work and thoughts before receiving help, suggesting methods like simplifying the resistor network or using Kirchhoff's Current Law (KCL) equations.
  • A later reply expresses uncertainty about how to approach the problem and requests assistance in formulating thoughts on the solution.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the need for the original poster to demonstrate their understanding and approach to the problem before receiving further assistance. However, there is no consensus on the specific method to be used for solving the circuit.

Contextual Notes

Limitations include the original poster's lack of initial work or thoughts on the problem, which may affect the ability to provide targeted help. The discussion does not resolve the method of analysis to be employed.

Who May Find This Useful

Students or individuals seeking assistance with circuit analysis, particularly those learning about resistor configurations and current calculations in electrical engineering contexts.

calculate the current through circuit which contain 5 resistors,3 of them shape y network
their values are 220 ohm's,330 ohm's,680 ohm's.
the other 2 resistors are in parallel with them and they are 1Kohm's.
the voltage sourse give 10V.

Welcome to the PF. As the Rules state, you must show your own work and thoughts on the problem before we can provide tutorial help. How would you approach this problem?

i'm sorry I didn't know the rulse ,and I don't know how to send my thoughts.
can you help me.

thanks!

Sure you can show some work. Would you be able to simplify the resistor network using parallel and series combinations? Or would you prefer to write the KCL equations to get started?
