SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the feasibility of using a smog pump as a supercharger for a modified lawn mower vehicle powered by a twin-cylinder 180 opposed engine with a hydrostatic transmission. The user seeks guidance on designing and modeling a blower system, specifically inquiring about formulas for calculating the required air volume and specifications for pressure and flow rates from a smog pump. The conversation emphasizes the need for practical design insights and technical specifications to advance the project.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of supercharger mechanics and airflow dynamics
  • Familiarity with smog pump specifications and performance metrics
  • Basic knowledge of internal combustion engine operation
  • Experience in mechanical design and modeling techniques
NEXT STEPS
  • Research smog pump specifications and performance data
  • Learn about airflow calculations for supercharging applications
  • Explore mechanical design software for modeling blower systems
  • Investigate tuning techniques for optimizing engine performance with forced induction
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for automotive enthusiasts, mechanical engineers, and hobbyists interested in modifying small engines or exploring supercharging techniques for unique vehicle projects.

good morning all,

I have been thinking about building a "blower" for a strange modified lawn mower based vehicle I built. What I was wondering about was using a smog pump. is there a simple formula that would tell me if the volume of air needed? I am also having trouble trying to find any specs on pressure and flow out of one of these things. I am thinking simple blow thru.

the engine is a twin cylinder 180 opposed with a hydrostatic trans

thanks
