SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the creative representation of elephants and other animals using graphical tools, specifically referencing the integration of features in a digital art context. Participants mention the use of Desmos for creating visual representations, including an elephant named Elliot and a woolly mammoth named Mathew. The conversation also touches on the humorous aspects of animal features, such as tusks and fins, while incorporating references to pop culture, including the film "Elephant Walk" (1954) and a blog post by John D. Cook on fitting an elephant. The playful tone highlights the intersection of art and mathematics in graphical representations.

PREREQUISITES
  • Familiarity with digital art tools like Desmos
  • Understanding of basic graphical representation techniques
  • Knowledge of mathematical integration concepts
  • Awareness of pop culture references in art
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore advanced features of Desmos for creating complex graphical representations
  • Research mathematical integration techniques applicable to digital art
  • Investigate the historical context of "Elephant Walk" (1954) and its artistic significance
  • Read John D. Cook's blog on fitting animals in mathematical contexts
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for digital artists, educators in mathematics, and anyone interested in the creative application of mathematical concepts in visual art.

Next stop a woolly mammoth.

To celebrate some popcorn and a movie staring Sabu.

i'm going to call him elliot the elephant

I'm glad the poachers did not get his ivory. That would be dis-tusking.
(Its your fault...)

don't worry, elliot just hadn't grown tusks yet

anyway, what are your thoughts on penguins?

also my favourite animal is called 3,4,4,5-tetramethyl-2,5-cyclohexadienone, but you might know him better as penguinone

sadly sir desmos did not save a copy of elliot; the only remnant I have left of him is a screenshot of some of his early dna, long before the tusk update which introduced elliot mark 1.0.3

There is also Mathew the woolly mammoth, elliot's older cousin:
