Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around the feasibility and applications of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFUS), particularly regarding its potential to penetrate metal and its heating effects. Participants express interest in experimenting with HIFUS and seek information on equipment and capabilities.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses a desire to purchase a HIFUS kit for experimentation, indicating a lack of availability for personal use.
  • Another participant mentions that HIFUS technology is primarily used in medical applications, specifically for treating cancer, and suggests a specific provider in Canada.
  • A third participant questions the type of experiments intended with HIFUS, noting the common use of ultrasonic measurement tools for measuring metal thickness.
  • One participant specifically expresses interest in the heating effects of HIFUS.
  • A later reply raises the question of whether HIFUS can penetrate metal, indicating a need for clarification on this capability.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

The discussion does not reach a consensus on the availability of HIFUS equipment for personal experimentation or its ability to penetrate metal, as participants present differing perspectives and questions.

Contextual Notes

Participants have not clarified the specific types of experiments they wish to conduct with HIFUS, nor have they provided details on the conditions under which HIFUS might penetrate metal.

hello!

I want to experiment with High-intensity focused ultrasound
I want a kit that produces it so that I can conduct experiments with it
do you know where can I buy one?

thanks!

Lol! I don't think you're buying one of these. At least as far as I know.

For the purposes of obliterating cancerous prostate cells, there are only two or three in North America!

Check out Maple Leaf Hi-Fu. They're the only Canadian operators of a proven technology. They can get you in touch with the machine provider.

It's not clear what sort of experiments you want to perform with ultrasound.

Ultrasonic measurement tools are quite common, especially those used to measure the thickness of metals.

I am interested in the heating effects of HIFUS

can HIFUS penetrate metal?
