AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on the challenges faced by individuals seeking a foundational understanding of Quantum Mechanics (QM) after leaving high school with limited physics knowledge. Users express frustration over the contradictory information available online and seek reliable resources. Recommendations for clear and consistent books include "The Strange World of Quantum Mechanics" by Daniel Styer, "QED: The Strange Theory of Light and Matter" by Richard Feynman, and "The Emperor's New Mind" by Roger Penrose. These texts are highlighted for their accessibility and engaging explanations of complex concepts in QM, making them suitable for those new to the subject.

I left High School a few years back with a C grade in Higher Physics and recently have found Quantum Mechanics quite interesting but I been trying to get to grips with a Physicists basic understanding of QM. The resources on the web seem to contradict each other and it's all very confusing. It also leaves me with some questions that I can't find answers to.

So what books out there have clear, honest and consistent information on the subject?

"QED: The strange theory of light and matter" by Richard Feynman is a classic. I like Roger Penrose's book too, e.g. "The emperor's new mind". (Both of these are popular science books).

I've gone through the Standard turbulence textbooks such as Pope's Turbulent Flows and Wilcox' Turbulent modelling for CFD which mostly Covers RANS and the closure models. I want to jump more into DNS but most of the work i've been able to come across is too "practical" and not much explanation of the theory behind it. I wonder if there is a book that takes a theoretical approach to Turbulence starting from the full Navier Stokes Equations and developing from there, instead of jumping from...
