SUMMARY

The forum discussion focuses on resources for designing a CanSat parafoil capable of carrying a payload of 300-350 grams. Users shared various documentation and equations related to parachute design, including links to NASA's parachute design resources and numerical analysis tools. Additional resources provided include ESA's parachute design guide and instructional content on sewing mini-paragliders. These materials collectively aim to assist in the calculations and design process for CanSat parafoils.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic aerodynamics principles
  • Familiarity with parachute design equations
  • Knowledge of numerical analysis techniques
  • Basic sewing skills for constructing the parafoil
NEXT STEPS
  • Study NASA's parachute design equations for practical applications
  • Explore ESA's parachute design documentation for advanced insights
  • Learn about numerical analysis methods relevant to parachute performance
  • Research sewing techniques specific to mini-paraglider construction
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for aerospace engineering students, hobbyists involved in CanSat projects, and anyone interested in parachute design and construction techniques.

TL;DR
CanSat parafoil (300-350g payload) design help
Hi!
Do anyone have any help or documentation how to calculate size, design, etc. For a CanSat parafoil which would hold 300-350g payload?

So far I've seen this is quite difficoult (for me at least) to calculate and make. Thanks in advance!

Here are some equations for parachute design: https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/VirtualAero/BottleRocket/airplane/rktvrecv.html

You could also perform a numerical analysis, like this one here:
