SUMMARY

This discussion centers on a chemistry question regarding reactions involving particles, specifically identifying a reaction where one substance (A) is not consumed while another (B) is. The example provided is a dissolution reaction, where A remains in the solution alongside B. The most pervasive particle involved in such reactions is typically water, acting as a solvent. The participant seeks assistance to understand these concepts better to improve their performance in a challenging chemistry course.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of chemical reactions and phases
  • Knowledge of solubility and solvents
  • Familiarity with dissolution processes
  • Concept of reactants and products in chemical equations
NEXT STEPS
  • Study the properties of solvents, focusing on water as a universal solvent
  • Research dissolution reactions and their characteristics
  • Explore the concept of solubility and factors affecting it
  • Learn about chemical equilibrium in reactions involving multiple substances
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for chemistry students, educators, and anyone seeking to understand the dynamics of dissolution reactions and the role of solvents in chemical processes.

Homework Statement

Can you please help me with a question ?

.Something that isn't consumed by the reaction (so say A) is dissolved at the same time as something that is consumed by the reaction (B) in a solvent, so that they are in the same phase...what is this reaction an example of?

Part2) What is the most pervasive particle that is involved in an example of this type of reaction that isn't consumed by the reaction?

The Attempt at a Solution

I don't have any attempts. Before someone gets angry please read what I have to say. I am a student of Systems engineering and this is totally not my field. I had CHemistry in semester 1 and I have kept on failing this course. I just want to get those bonus questions so I can PASS this course. I am a good student I can post my report cards online but I am good at the stuff I got into this engineering for. YOu can see my previous posts and see that I am good with circuits and EMT related subjects. I just want to get these bonus points and get on with my life please !

You dissolve something and you have two different things present in the solution. Think what soluble substances you know.
