1. The problem

A ball is thrown from a 19m building and hits the ground 98.2 m away. Gravity = 9.8 m/s2. Find the intial velocity as well as x and y components of the ball just before it hits the ground

Homework Equations


I found time=1.969149822.

No, you've assumed the initial velocity is horizontal.

Call the initial speed v, at an angle θ to the horizontal.

Then do the equations for the x and y directions (separately), and eliminate t. :smile:
