AI Thread Summary
The issue with MCNPX was related to a missing cross-section file, specifically "bertin," which caused the error message "bad trouble in imcn." This typically indicates an input error, suggesting that the necessary file was not found. The user resolved the problem independently, although the specific steps taken to fix it were not detailed. Missing files are a common source of calculation errors in MCNPX. Ensuring all required files are present is crucial for successful operation.

My MCNPX is not working when I start the calculation. It says "bad trouble in imcn in routine xin cross-section file bertin does not exist."

Sorry, the problem was fixed by myself.

How did one fix it.

Usually "bad trouble in imcn" indicates an input error

"in routine xin cross-section file bertin does not exist" Does that imply file bertin was missing?

Hello, I'm currently trying to compare theoretical results with an MCNP simulation. I'm using two discrete sets of data, intensity (probability) and linear attenuation coefficient, both functions of energy, to produce an attenuated energy spectrum after x-rays have passed through a thin layer of lead. I've been running through the calculations and I'm getting a higher average attenuated energy (~74 keV) than initial average energy (~33 keV). My guess is I'm doing something wrong somewhere...
