Could Gravity Be a Negative Mass Particle?

i am thinking

what if gravity is itself a negative mass particle?
like, if you have something in front of a black hole right?
how would it gain gravitational potential energy?
if anything with positive mass can't cant out of a black hole?

I've heard of gravity being described as negative energy, but not as a negative mass particle.
