SUMMARY

The discussion centers on whether an infinitely long bent wire can be treated as a closed loop. The consensus is that it cannot be considered a closed loop due to the nature of its infinite ends extending off to infinity. This conclusion is based on the geometric properties of the wire and its inability to form a finite loop.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of geometric properties of shapes
  • Familiarity with concepts of infinity in mathematics
  • Basic knowledge of wire bending and physical properties
  • Awareness of closed loop definitions in geometry
NEXT STEPS
  • Research geometric properties of infinite shapes
  • Explore mathematical definitions of closed loops
  • Study the implications of infinity in physical systems
  • Investigate applications of closed loops in engineering
USEFUL FOR

Mathematicians, physicists, engineers, and anyone interested in the properties of geometric shapes and their applications in real-world scenarios.

Could I treat this picture as a closed loop? This is part of a much larger problem, so this is all I need to know. I think I can because the ends go off to infinity, but I'm not sure.

What is it?

An infinitely long bent wire. Actually, I believe the answer is I can't treat it as a closed loop.
