SUMMARY

The discussion centers on obtaining a foundational understanding of crystallography and diffraction studies. A user seeks quick resources to become functionally literate in these topics. A recommended resource is MIT's 3.60 course, which consists of 40 videos, each approximately 40 minutes long, providing comprehensive coverage of crystallography. This course has proven beneficial for users looking to enhance their knowledge in this field.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of crystallography principles
  • Familiarity with diffraction techniques
  • Access to online educational platforms
  • Ability to engage with video-based learning materials
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore MIT's 3.60 crystallography course on YouTube
  • Research key concepts in crystallography such as unit cells and symmetry
  • Study diffraction methods and their applications in material science
  • Investigate additional online resources or textbooks on crystallography
USEFUL FOR

Students, researchers, and professionals in the fields of materials science, chemistry, and physics who are looking to gain a foundational understanding of crystallography and diffraction studies.

Hello, I'm going to be doing some work with crystallography and diffraction studies and I need a quick crash course in crystallography. I haven't done much of either outside of labs as an undergrad. Anyone have any suggested reading for quickly getting up to speed (or at least becoming functionally illiterate)?

Thanks!

This isn't a quick reading, but you might find it interesting;

This is MIT's 3.60 course, which is all about crystallography (40 videos & each about 40 minutes)

It's been perfect for me :)

Good luck.
