Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around determining a value (X) related to two events, A and B, using De Morgan's laws. Participants are exploring the implications of given probabilities and options for X.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Assumption checking, Problem interpretation

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • Participants discuss the application of De Morgan's laws and question whether this is the correct approach to determine the value of X. There is also mention of eliminating options based on the probabilities provided.

Discussion Status

Some participants have expressed agreement on a specific answer, while others are still exploring the reasoning behind their choices. Guidance has been offered regarding the elimination of certain options.

Contextual Notes

The problem includes specific probabilities for events A and B, which may influence the interpretation of the options provided for X. There is an emphasis on the validity of the approach being used.

now i asked to decide form the options A-D which one can have the X value.

so i tried to use the De Morgan's laws but i am not sure if this is the correct way.
so i need help here.

No, it's not. What you need to do is to eliminate that three answers that aren't possible.

You're given P(A) = .5 and P(B) = .8. The four answers are A) 0, B) .4, C) .8, and D) 1.

ok i got the answer B=0.4

do i correct?

thank you very much for helping.
