Did Einstein Make Mathematical Errors?

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the credibility of a website claiming that Einstein made mathematical errors, specifically in the context of special relativity. Participants evaluate the validity of the claims made on the site and the credibility of the journal that published some of the author's papers.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested
  • Technical explanation

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants assert that the website is not credible and dismiss its claims as lacking understanding of mathematics and physics.
  • Others argue that the author of the website misunderstands special relativity and is ignorant of its verification through practical applications, such as particle accelerators.
  • A participant questions the credibility of the journal "Galilean Electrodynamics," expressing uncertainty about its peer-review status and reliability.
  • Some participants suggest that the website's author is seeking publicity and fame rather than contributing to legitimate scientific discourse.
  • There are hints that the journal may focus on outdated solutions to problems that have already been resolved in modern physics.
  • One participant notes a lack of scholarly recognition for the editors of the journal, raising further doubts about its credibility.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally disagree on the credibility of the website and the journal, with some firmly rejecting the claims made while others express uncertainty about the journal's legitimacy.

Contextual Notes

Limitations include the lack of detailed information about the journal's peer-review process and the qualifications of its contributors, which may affect the assessment of its credibility.

What do you guys think of this site?

Is there anything to this?

No. It's complete crapola.

It's crap. written by someone who doesn't understand math, is arrogant enough to think that if he doesn't understand something it is wrong, and is under the misapprehension that SRT is hard to verify. He is entirely ignorant of the hundreds of accelerators built over the last 80 years, which were designed using Einstein's formulas and wouldn't work if designed using this guy's formulas.

It's strange but it was an advertised link for the term "relative" on answers.com What is he selling?

Just trying to make himself famous.

He's trying to sell publicity just like this, and he's succeeding because you took his bait.

Zz.

He says on his website that 3 of his Papers were acceted by Gallilean Electrodynamics. I'm only a student and have no idea if that is a credible, peer-reviewed journal or even if its a real journal at all. By what all of you are saying I'm assuming it isn't. Anyone care to comment on it?

Have a look around and make your own judgment.
It may help to Google and Scholar-Google author names.

Hint: with a name like "Galilean Electrodynamics", it should be clear that they are looking for 300 year old solutions to problems that were solved 100 years ago.

OK I searched about seven names From the physicists and editors on that site. BOTH editors returned NO results for any works on Google Scholars. One Physicist mentioned there had several publications, and two others that I searched had one each. Doesn't seem very reliable to me, but then again I'm no physicist...at least not yet.
