SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the need for access to pages 34 and 56 of Paul Dirac's original 1930 edition of The Principles of Quantum Mechanics. The user is unable to obtain these pages due to geographical constraints and copyright issues. They suggest that scanning or photographing the pages at a public library may be a solution, while also noting that the book is likely still under copyright, complicating online searches. The user emphasizes the importance of these pages for their research prior to writing a paper.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of copyright laws related to published works
  • Familiarity with library resources and scanning technology
  • Knowledge of quantum mechanics and its historical context
  • Experience with academic research methodologies
NEXT STEPS
  • Research copyright laws regarding historical scientific texts
  • Learn about library scanning services and interlibrary loans
  • Explore the historical significance of Dirac's 1930 edition of The Principles of Quantum Mechanics
  • Investigate academic writing techniques for research papers
USEFUL FOR

Researchers, students of quantum mechanics, and anyone interested in the historical development of quantum theory will benefit from this discussion.

Hi everyone,

so I need someone to go to a public library and 'steal' somehow (scanning or simply photo with a smart phone) pages 34 and 56 of Dirac's original edition of his groundbreaking 1930 book called <The Principles of Quantum Mechanics>. I myself cannot do that from where I am, not to mention that buying the whole book is out of the question for reasons of availability.

Can it be done? Thanks,

In the meantime, you might be able to find it via Google if you search on Dirac and his book and the picture of interest or page of interest.

A search in Google is futile, I think the book's still under copyright and the 1st Edition has never gotten the right amount of attention it diserved, as the author changed it significantly by 1935, when he had the 2nd Ed. published. I specifically need these 2 pages only for some research work prior to writing a small paper.
