Exothermic Reactions for Project Experiments

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around identifying specific exothermic liquid reactions suitable for project experiments, particularly focusing on organic liquid-liquid reactions. Participants explore various options and seek examples that can be utilized in a research context.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant inquires about exothermic liquid reactions for a project, specifically looking for organic reactions.
  • Another participant suggests the reaction between H+ and OH- as a potential example.
  • A follow-up question asks whether the reactions need to be non-aqueous or if organic aqueous solutions are acceptable.
  • There is a request for specific examples of reactions, indicating a need for clarity on the types of reactions that can be performed.
  • One participant emphasizes that the topic of organic acid-base reactions may be relevant to the inquiry.
  • A suggestion is made to consider the reaction between citric acid and sodium ethanoate, noting that substituting sodium ethanoate with sodium hydroxide could simplify calculations and make exothermicity more observable.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express varying levels of familiarity with chemistry, and while some suggestions are made, there is no consensus on specific reactions or a definitive list of examples. The discussion remains open-ended with multiple viewpoints on the types of reactions that could be explored.

Contextual Notes

Participants express uncertainty regarding their knowledge of chemistry, particularly in the context of organic reactions, which may limit the specificity of the examples provided. There is also a lack of detailed information on the conditions or parameters for the suggested reactions.

Hii..

Can anyone tel me... some Exothermic Liquid reactions to carry out experiments for my project work...

Chemistry news on Phys.org
What about H+ + OH-.

hi.. Thank u for your reply...
im looking for some organic liquid-liquid reactions ... u have any idea ..?

please let me know...

Thank u

Do you need it to be non-aqueous , for instance could you deal with organic aqueous solutions i.e. organic compound dissolved in water?

It can be non aqueous or aqueous ... can u please name them ... i want some specific examples... pleasezz let me know...

Thanking you

Honestly this is your research. The topic of organic acid base reactions should be relevant to what you want.

Yeh... ur rite... I am a research student.. but I am a chemical engineering student ... so i don't know much of the chemistry... i have been searching from 2 months but could not able to find out.. pleasez help me in this regard... some reactions can u suggest me so that i can proceed further in my project ...

hope u will do some favor ...

I'm sure that there are more popular ones out there, but here's one

citric acid with sodium ethanoate

The calculations won't be so simple with this one

If possible you can substitute the ethanoate with sodium hydroxide , that would simplify things and the exothermicity may be more observable.
