Experience Zero-Gravity at Earth's Core

Click For Summary
At Earth's core, one would theoretically float in a zero-gravity environment due to equal gravitational forces acting in opposite directions. The discussion raises the question of whether time dilation would occur in this scenario, given the presence of significant mass but a lack of curved spacetime. Participants explore the implications of gravitational forces on time perception and the nature of spacetime at the Earth's center. The conversation references existing physics theories to clarify the relationship between gravity, time, and spatial curvature. Ultimately, the inquiry highlights the complexities of gravitational effects on time in unique environments.

Imagine you were safely enchambered right at the center of the earth. Here you would "experience" strong gravitational "forces" but since they all point in opposite directions you would float around as if you were in zero-gravity.

My question is, whether you would experience time dilation or not. You certainly got all the matter to exhibit of gravitational force on you, but still you'r not in a region of spacetime that is curved.

MOVING CLOCKS In this section, we show that clocks moving at high speeds run slowly. We construct a clock, called a light clock, using a stick of proper lenght ##L_0##, and two mirrors. The two mirrors face each other, and a pulse of light bounces back and forth betweem them. Each time the light pulse strikes one of the mirrors, say the lower mirror, the clock is said to tick. Between successive ticks the light pulse travels a distance ##2L_0## in the proper reference of frame of the clock...
