There was a fake video of the former Minister of Finance of Greece that was so realistic that it fooled a lot of people. Then when the real ex-minister appeared many people said the fake was better.

It's too bad : I have to assume that any news from an unfamiliar source is fictional. I have to reject everything that is unknown. So any new news source is going to find it hard or very hard to get established.

It's true that misinformation is a huge problem. To take it to the extreme, imagine receiving a video message, like a video call, showing a family member being tortured, and being told that if you don't pay immediately, they'll be killed...

One approach we can take is: "If it seems too strange, it's probably fake"
