SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, specifically the choice of discipline for the second part of the test. Participants clarify that the "Other Disciplines" module is not a general module but an option that may be perceived as easier compared to specific disciplines like mechanical or electrical engineering. It is established that selecting a discipline does not limit one's licensing opportunities, as the exam results do not specify which discipline was taken. Ultimately, candidates are encouraged to choose the discipline they find most manageable to ensure passing the FE exam.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam structure
  • Familiarity with engineering disciplines such as mechanical and electrical engineering
  • Knowledge of licensing requirements for engineers
  • Awareness of exam preparation strategies
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the specific content and format of the FE exam for different disciplines
  • Explore study materials and resources for the "Other Disciplines" module
  • Investigate the licensing process for engineers in your state
  • Review strategies for effective exam preparation and time management
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for engineering students, particularly those preparing for the FE exam, as well as professionals considering their discipline choice and exam strategy.

I know that the first part is general questions, the second part however allows you to choose a module/discipline like mechanical or electrical...

But there is a module/discipline named " Other disciplines " , is that considered the general module/discipline?

I am a mechanical Eng student, does it matter what discipline I choose? Because the "other disciplines" seems easier than " mechanical" discipline. Does choosing a specific discipline in the second part of the test limit me in any way? Or is it as long as I pass the FE exam I fine.

thx for the help

I don't think your license says which exam you took so take the one that is easiest for you. I took the general exam. The general exam is definitely easier than the electrical exam.
