FEM - mesh generator, transition elements

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on implementing a 2D mesh generator that incorporates both triangle and rectangle elements, specifically utilizing triangle elements as transition elements. Piotr seeks algorithms for generating such meshes and references an example image for clarity. Participants suggest that existing 2D mesh generation routines are applicable and provide resources for further theoretical understanding.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Finite Element Method (FEM)
  • Familiarity with 2D mesh generation techniques
  • Knowledge of triangle and rectangle element properties
  • Basic algorithm design principles
NEXT STEPS
  • Research existing 2D mesh generation algorithms
  • Explore the application of transition elements in FEM
  • Study the resources provided at the University of Saskatchewan's FEM page
  • Investigate open-source mesh generation tools and libraries
USEFUL FOR

Engineers, researchers, and developers involved in computational modeling, particularly those focused on finite element analysis and mesh generation techniques.

FEM -- mesh generator, transition elements

Hello,

I would like to implement 2D mesh generator. Mesh should consists of triangle and rectangle elements and those triangle elements will play a role of transition elements. The example of such mesh is here: http://pkow.pl/transition_element.jpg. I'm looking for an algorithm to generate such mesh (in books, web sites -- doesn't matter). Maybe you could help me?

greetings!
Piotr
