Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around a problem in the context of Compton scattering, specifically involving a 0.88 MeV photon interacting with a free electron initially at rest. The original poster seeks to determine the scattering angle of both the photon and the electron, which are stated to be equal.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Assumption checking

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • The original poster attempts to apply a formula related to Compton scattering but expresses uncertainty about missing information, particularly regarding the wavelength.

Discussion Status

Some participants have noted the importance of adhering to forum rules regarding showing attempts at problem-solving. Guidance has been offered to explore background information on Compton scattering, suggesting that further reading may clarify the situation.

Contextual Notes

The original poster mentions a lack of additional information needed to apply the formula provided by their teacher, which may limit their ability to progress in solving the problem.
