AI Thread Summary
The issue arises when using xfig on Debian, where a font error message indicates that the system cannot find a specific font, resulting in text being displayed too small to read. The solution involves installing the necessary x fonts package to resolve the missing font issue. This should enable the user to adjust the font size appropriately in xfig.

I'm trying to use xfig in debian but when I try to write a text in my pictures I get the message:

'Can't find -*-times-medium-r-normal--13-*-*-*-*-*-ISO8859-*, using 6'

What is annoying cause I cannot change the size of the font and the text is so small that I cannot read it! Okay, I know very little about how to use linux and xfig, so I'm asking for help... Does anyone know how can I fix it?

Roberto.

Looks like you're short a font or two. If you're running your own system, you may be able to fix it by installing some sort of x fonts package.

Hmm... Thanks. I'll try to do that.

We can get into how and why it got wrecked later, but suffice to say a kitchen knife was involved: These buttons do want to NOT come off, not like other lappies, where they can snap in and out. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
