If I want a job in a different region of the country, would it be ideal to move there first?

It depends on your own circumstances? Would you move there anyway? What if you don't get a job with the company you want?

Unless it's related to the job, I see no reason that living in a particular area would offer any advantage in terms of the likelihood of your success in the selection process: the rest of it is really up to you.

Before you move anywhere, you should obviously be doing plenty of research to make sure the place is what you think it is etc, but you already know this. What scenario is it you actually want advice with?
