According to the NYT, Gonzales has resigned. Finally got a clue, I guess. Maybe Rove told him that if he stayed until Labor Day, he'd have to serve out his whole term. :rolleyes:

He should have left sooner. He compromised his integrity, and undermined the office of AG - but then that's no surprised in the Bush/Cheney administration.
 
If things proceed according to prescription, next up is the medal of freedom for Gonzo.
 
No, next up is him forgetting that he has resigned.

ps. It only works for congretional comittees - for really tough inquisitors pleading, "I have no recollection of being asked to do the washing up" doesn't work.

Rumors are that Chertoff will replace Gonzo. Chertoff has a better resume , but I have a feeling there will be even more shredding of the constitution.
