SUMMARY

This discussion focuses on graphing equations involving three variables (x, y, z) using the TI-Nspire CX CAS calculator. Users express challenges in graphing complex shapes like ellipsoids and provide insights on alternative methods, such as solving for z in equations like z=1-y^2 and x=y^2+4z^2. The conversation highlights the limitations of the TI-Nspire for certain graphing tasks and suggests using Wolfram|Alpha for more complex visualizations, although this is not an option during tests.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of 3D graphing concepts
  • Familiarity with the TI-Nspire CX CAS calculator
  • Knowledge of algebraic manipulation for solving equations
  • Basic understanding of ellipsoids and their equations
NEXT STEPS
  • Learn how to graph 3D equations on the TI-Nspire CX CAS
  • Explore the use of Wolfram|Alpha for complex graphing
  • Study the properties and equations of ellipsoids
  • Practice solving equations for z to facilitate graphing
USEFUL FOR

Students preparing for exams, educators teaching 3D graphing, and anyone using the TI-Nspire CX CAS for advanced mathematical visualizations.

how do i graph z=1-y^2

or x=y^2+4z^2

or 36x^2+y^2+36z^2=36

or pretty much anything with x,y,z

on the ti nspire cx cas

ok i figured some things out. but i can't graph an ellipsoid. like completely. the only way i know how to do it is to solve the equation for z=... and then i have do the positive and negative of the rest of the equation (because its under sqrt) but i still can't get the full thing. what i did is a circle but as an example. (z^2+y^2+x^2=1).

I realize that you are looking for help on the Casio, but if you have access to the net, Wolfram|Alpha does a good job. See here.

on the casio? no the tinspire. :/ unfortunately i can't use a laptop during the test so i won't be able to use wolframalpha (Giggle) (oh wow if taking snapshots of my screen is all it takes to get so many thanks ill be right back with a ton more (Happy) )

Maybe you could get a tattoo for any relevant graphs on your arm? They can't boot you for having a tattoo during the test...
