i have forgotten how to deal with double subscripts ...

Can someone please show how to get the following text to display properly"We could divide E_1, E_2, ... ... into two subsequences E_k_1, E_k_2, ... and E_h_1, E_h_2, ...
Help will be much appreciated ...

Hi Peter,

You should use braces, like $E_{k_1}$.
 
you can write as

E_{x_{y}}

to get

$E_{x_{y}}$
