SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the need for primers for porcine bcl-xs to conduct RT-PCR for gene expression analysis in swine. Users recommend utilizing the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) for gene sequence searches, although it is noted that a complete gene sequence for bcl-xs is currently unavailable. Participants suggest that users may need to design their own primers using various free online tools, as specific guidelines for RT-PCR primer design are not provided in the discussion.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of RT-PCR methodology
  • Familiarity with primer design techniques
  • Knowledge of gene sequence databases, specifically NCBI
  • Basic molecular biology concepts related to gene expression
NEXT STEPS
  • Research primer design software for RT-PCR applications
  • Explore the NCBI database for related gene sequences and resources
  • Study the principles of gene expression analysis in swine
  • Learn about alternative methods for gene expression testing if sequences are unavailable
USEFUL FOR

Researchers in molecular biology, swine geneticists, and anyone involved in gene expression studies using RT-PCR techniques.

help~~~~~I need the primers of porcine bcl-xs

I want to use RT-PCR to test the expression change of bcl-xs on swine. But I can't find the gene sequnece or primers. I will sincerely appreciate your help.

The National Center for Biotechnology Information, which curates many sequence databases, would be a good place to search:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nucleotide/

For primers, you would likely have to design these yourself. There are many free programs available on the web to assist in PCR primer design (I've never done RT-PCR, so I don't know the specifics of primer design for that particular application).

The problem is that there is no full gene sequence of Bcl-xs.
