Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around precalculus homework problems, specifically focusing on inverse trigonometric functions and their properties. The original poster seeks assistance with several specific problems related to arcsine, arccosine, and tangent functions, as well as a practical application involving shadow length.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Assumption checking

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • Participants are prompted to share their attempts and identify where they are encountering difficulties, particularly with the first two problems. There is a focus on the domain of the arcsine function and its implications for the given values.

Discussion Status

Some participants have raised concerns about the validity of the first problem, questioning whether the input value falls within the acceptable domain for the arcsine function. The conversation is ongoing, with no consensus reached yet on the solutions or methods to approach the problems.

Contextual Notes

The original poster has not provided specific attempts or reasoning for their solutions, which may limit the guidance that can be offered. The nature of the homework problems suggests a need for clarity on the definitions and properties of inverse trigonometric functions.

I need help with how to solve these problems on my homework. If you don't know how to do them all then just write the number of the one you know. Thanks so much.

1. arcsin(√3 / 2)=
2. sin^-1(- √2 / 2)=
3. arcos(- 1/2)=
4. tan^-1(√3 / 3)=
5. sin(arctan 3/ 4)=
6. If the sun is 30degrees above the horizon, find the length of a shadow cast by a silo that is 60 feet tall.

Hi doodlebug003! Welcome to PF!

Show us what you've tried, and where you're stuck, and then we'll know how to help.

Start with 1. and 2.
