How can the moment of inertia of a single inlet centrifugal fan be calculated?

Click For Summary
To calculate the moment of inertia of a single inlet centrifugal fan, one can use specific formulas based on the fan's geometry. For fans with complex shapes, it is recommended to consult the manufacturer for precise data. If manufacturer data is unavailable, a general procedure involves breaking down the fan into simpler geometric shapes and calculating their individual moments of inertia before summing them. Accurate calculations are crucial for understanding the fan's dynamic behavior. Seeking expert guidance or using simulation software may also enhance accuracy in these calculations.

For odd shapes that are not easily calculable, either contact the manufacturer or follow this procedure:

Had my central air system checked when it sortta wasn't working. I guess I hadn't replaced the filter. Guy suggested I might want to get a UV filter accessory. He said it would "kill bugs and particulates". I know UV can kill the former, not sure how he thinks it's gonna murder the latter. Now I'm finding out there's more than one type of UV filter: one for the air flow and one for the coil. He was suggesting we might get one for the air flow, but now we'll have to change the bulb...
