SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the functioning of Venturi meters and filter pumps. A Venturi meter is a device that measures flow rate by utilizing Bernoulli's equation and a pressure differential to determine flow rate. The term "filter pump" lacks clarity, as it typically refers to two distinct components: a pump and a filter. Understanding the difference between pressure meters and flow meters is crucial, as both measure pressure but do so through different methodologies.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Bernoulli's equation
  • Knowledge of pressure differentials
  • Familiarity with flow measurement techniques
  • Basic concepts of fluid dynamics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the principles of Bernoulli's equation in fluid dynamics
  • Learn about different types of flow meters, including mass flow meters
  • Explore the design and operation of Venturi meters
  • Investigate the functions and types of pumps and filters in fluid systems
USEFUL FOR

Engineers, fluid dynamics students, and professionals involved in fluid measurement and control systems will benefit from this discussion.

hello every one  i don't know if this is really the correct place for posting this question but here it goes! Can somebody tell me how the venturi metre and the filter pump work?

thanx in advance! :blushing:

Welcome to PF, Cruiser. I can't speak for the others, but I personally would need a lot more information in the question. To start with, do you mean a venturi meter? The term metre refers to a unit of linear measurement. If so, would this be a vacuum gauge?
And the term 'filter pump' means nothing to me. Clarification is needed (by me, but others might know what you're asking about already). To me, a pump and a filter are separate entities.

Is this a pressure meter, or a flow meter?? mass flow meters use a pressure differential to measure flow rate, and using bernoulli's eq you can easily determine the flow rate. essentially a pressure gage and a flow gage measure the same parameter (pressure), but the flow reading is an indirect measurement.
