AI Thread Summary
The discussion highlights a rare video showcasing the Blue Angels' training methods, drawing parallels to military rehearsals and skydiving drills. Participants emphasize the importance of team briefings and timing in aerobatic flying, noting that synchronized chants can enhance performance. The use of rhythmic cues, like singing or chants during training, is suggested to aid in maintaining timing and coordination. Comparisons are made to other training practices, such as static line jumps and CPR techniques, which also utilize rhythmic elements. I didn't want to post this in the YouTube Classics as just another cool video because it is such a rare find.

Kind of like the Seal Team 6 rehearsals for the Osama Bin Laden raid...

I didn't know what to expect before viewing the video. But it makes sense.
It reminds me of the drills we did before skydiving - you, literally, go through the motions.
Also, I did some aerobatic flying - in some cases, as with the snap rolls - it's all timing. You don't have time to react to what you see.

The first minute or so is a pretty standard weather/pilot briefing. You would do that for yourself - but in a team, it makes sense to do it as a team.

He is almost singing at times. Does this help with the timing?

On a static line jumps, the chant was "Arch thousand, Two thousand, Three thousand, Check canopy"
So, probably.

(And per training, CPR is done to the beat of "Staying Alive".)

That's a better song than "Nelly the Elephant", which is what I was taught.

There's an iMAX movie called The Blue Angels that came out in the last year and is still running. I think you can stream it as well. It has an inside look at their program as well as some good video sequences.

The story behind what they do is interesting but seeing them up close is way more fun.
