SUMMARY

The Blue Angels utilize a structured training regimen that emphasizes team coordination and timing, similar to techniques used in skydiving and aerobatic flying. The initial phase of their training includes a weather and pilot briefing, which is conducted as a team to enhance synchronization. The use of rhythmic chants during jumps, such as "Arch thousand, Two thousand, Three thousand, Check canopy," is crucial for maintaining timing. Additionally, the iMAX film "The Blue Angels," released within the last year, provides an in-depth look at their training program and performance.

I didn't want to post this in the YouTube Classics as just another cool video because it is such a rare find.

Kind of like the Seal Team 6 rehearsals for the Osama Bin Laden raid...

I didn't know what to expect before viewing the video. But it makes sense.
It reminds me of the drills we did before skydiving - you, literally, go through the motions.
Also, I did some aerobatic flying - in some cases, as with the snap rolls - it's all timing. You don't have time to react to what you see.

The first minute or so is a pretty standard weather/pilot briefing. You would do that for yourself - but in a team, it makes sense to do it as a team.

He is almost singing at times. Does this help with the timing?

On a static line jumps, the chant was "Arch thousand, Two thousand, Three thousand, Check canopy"
So, probably.

(And per training, CPR is done to the beat of "Staying Alive".)

That's a better song than "Nelly the Elephant", which is what I was taught.

There's an iMAX movie called The Blue Angels that came out in the last year and is still running. I think you can stream it as well. It has an inside look at their program as well as some good video sequences.

The story behind what they do is interesting but seeing them up close is way more fun.
