AI Thread Summary
In the discussion about applying the Nemtab cross section library into the PARCS neutronics code, a beginner seeks guidance on integrating Nemtab data. The user notes that PARCS allows for cross section data input through the XSEC card or the PMAXS in the DEPL card. They possess a Nemtab library with various branches for different fuel temperatures and coolant densities but are unsure whether to input it directly or convert it into PMAX files. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences or solutions regarding this integration challenge. The conversation focuses on the technical aspects of using cross section data in PARCS effectively.

Hello everyone, I am a beginner for PARCS neutronics code. In PARCS we have 2 ways to set the xs data. One is in the XSEC card and the other is using PMAXS in DEPL card. Now I have nemtab xs library with many braches of different Fuel temperatures and Coolant densities. I am confusing that is there a way a can put nemtab directly to PARCS input or do I have to convert nemtab into PMAX files. Please let me know if anyone have experience this issue. Thank you very much!

Hello, I'm currently trying to compare theoretical results with an MCNP simulation. I'm using two discrete sets of data, intensity (probability) and linear attenuation coefficient, both functions of energy, to produce an attenuated energy spectrum after x-rays have passed through a thin layer of lead. I've been running through the calculations and I'm getting a higher average attenuated energy (~74 keV) than initial average energy (~33 keV). My guess is I'm doing something wrong somewhere...
