SUMMARY

To become an Astrophysicist, students in year 10 should focus on selecting subjects that include physics, general science, and astronomy. Essential mathematics courses, particularly calculus and statistics, are crucial for success in this field. Additionally, taking chemistry is recommended if space allows in the curriculum. A strong foundation in these subjects will prepare students for university-level astrophysics programs.

PREREQUISITES
  • Physics fundamentals
  • General science knowledge
  • Advanced mathematics (calculus and statistics)
  • Chemistry basics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research university programs in Astrophysics
  • Explore advanced mathematics courses available in high school
  • Investigate online resources for introductory astronomy
  • Look into extracurricular activities related to science and math
USEFUL FOR

Students in secondary education considering a career in Astrophysics, educators advising students on subject selections, and parents supporting their children's academic choices in science and mathematics.

Welcome to PF;
"Astrophysics" is usually a program in University - by "year 10" do you mean at secondary school?

[edit]At secondary level - what mathman said (below).
The obvious stuff would be physics, general science, astronomy ...
less obvious would be that you need all the math you can get - calc and stats minimum.
If you have a space, I'd suggest chemistry.

If you are in high school, take all the math and physics courses that are available.
