Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around finding the voltages Uab and Ucd in a given electrical circuit. Participants are examining the relationships between voltage, current, and resistance within the circuit context.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Assumption checking, Conceptual clarification

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • The original poster expresses uncertainty about how to find Uab and Ucd, suggesting a potential relationship involving resistance and current. Other participants propose simplifying the circuit and identifying the potential drop across a specific resistor. There are also inquiries about the meaning of a wire marked in red within the circuit diagram.

Discussion Status

Participants are actively engaging with the problem, offering hints and asking clarifying questions. Some guidance has been provided regarding circuit simplification and potential drops, while multiple interpretations of circuit elements are being explored.

Contextual Notes

There is a mention of the absence of voltage or current sources in the circuit, which may influence the participants' understanding of the problem setup. The original poster and others are questioning the implications of this absence on their calculations.

I have no idea how to find it.
I think that Uab=R*I

To find Uab you have to find the potential drop across the resistor R1.
Try to simplify the circuit.
Hint : R3 and R5 are in parallel connection.

thank you.
can you explain me what that wire marked in red means?

I don't see any voltage or current sources in that circuit, so if "Uab means R*I" then I suppose _you_ mean that it's the equivalent resistance "seen" between nodes a and b. Right?
