Discussion Overview

The discussion centers on locating original articles by David Bohm and Paul Dirac related to quantum mechanics, specifically Bohm's 1952 interpretation and Dirac's 1932 paper on the principle of least action. Participants share strategies for finding these articles through library resources and online databases.

Discussion Character

  • Homework-related
  • Technical explanation

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses difficulty in finding Bohm's and Dirac's original articles despite searching their school's library.
  • Another participant suggests using interlibrary loan services for accessing materials not available locally.
  • A participant provides links to Bohm's and Dirac's papers, although there is uncertainty about whether the provided Dirac paper is the correct one.
  • One participant confirms they can access Dirac's paper and plans to request Bohm's article from their library.
  • A further suggestion includes using JSTOR as a resource for finding Dirac's 1932 paper.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the usefulness of library services and online resources for locating the articles, but there is no consensus on the specific articles or their availability.

Contextual Notes

Some participants mention the potential confusion regarding the correct paper by Dirac, as the principle of least action is also associated with Feynman, which may affect the search results.

Who May Find This Useful

Individuals interested in historical quantum mechanics literature, students seeking original research articles, and those exploring library resource options for academic research.

I want to find David Bohms original articles on his interpretation of quantum mechanics from 1952. And Paul Diracs 1932 paper on principle of least action in quantum mechanics.
I searched for articles at my schools library and I could find articles that had sighted their names but I did not find their articles that I wanted. Maybe I just didn't search hard enough.
Does anyone have advice on this.

Assuming you're in the USA, talk to the staff at your school's library. There's this thing called "interlibrary loan" where they can get materials (or copies) for you from other libraries. You'll probably have to wait a few days.

ok thanks for your response

I can read the one by Dirac. I can request the other one from my schools library.
Thanks for your post tho.
