I am just beginning the process of preparing applications for graduate schools. I understand we have to submit an official transcripts from undergraduate institutions. What about high schools? Do they accept photocopy of high school marksheet.

If someone can answer this, I will be very thankful.
Thanks,
Nikhil

High school transcripts (or mark sheets) are not mandatory documents. But, I would recommend you to send them along with other college application documents.

For High School transcripts, you can make photocopies of the original document and get it attested (notarized). That’s sufficient and you don’t have to make it official by getting signed from registrar.
Dont forget to include the following documents too

* photocopy of GRE and TOEFL score report
* copy of passport front page (that has your personal details)

Do you have any other questions related to transcripts? Leave a comment below this blog post.

You have it right there.

I don't see the purpose of sending your high school transcript to be honest. I doubt your high-school marks would give you an advantage over other applicants.

As a former member of a graduate program selections committee (in physics for a large US program), I second this. High school transcripts are important for selection into the undergraduate degree program, but once the undergrad program is well underway/completed the undergraduate record is what matters (for job applications or graduate school admissions). Our graduate program selection process would not have looked at high school performance, and the inclusion of such information would be viewed at best as irrelevant (tossed away) and then -- at worst -- just the inclusion of such extraneous information could make you look "needy" or uninformed.
